The Lycos Story

After coming across solid surface while installing residential countertops in 2004, Jon Taylor, president of Lycos, discovered his passion. He began attending trainings around the country learning how to fabricate solid surface and performed the work out of his garage. In 2007, he decided to take a risk and left the residential housing construction to rent a warehouse property in Iowa and start Lycos, Inc. Since then, Lycos has expanded into two divisions: Lycos Finish and Lycos Manufacturing. Lycos Finish focuses on finish carpentry and accessory installation, whereas Lycos Manufacturing continues the core practice of solid surface fabrication. Since founded, we have grown to 70 employees with two locations: our office HQ in Omaha and our manufacturing facility in Treynor, IA. We currently have fabrication and installation teams across Nebraska and Iowa including Kearney, Des Moines, Lincoln, and Omaha.
Lycos Finish
Lycos Finish provides installation services for division 6, 8, 10, 11, and 12 for the commercial construction industry. For every job, we provide a designated project manager and foreman to run and oversee our installation crews located across Nebraska and Iowa. With over 1,000 finish carpentry projects, we specialize in healthcare, education, hospitality, government, office, and retail and food spaces.

Lycos Manufacturing
Lycos Manufacturing is a leading fabricator of solid surface material for the commercial construction industry. Our advanced thermoforming capabilities and digital templating technology allow us to create custom designs for your space. We fabricate the solid surface in our manufacturing facility, located in Treynor, IA, all overseen by our production manager. We have crafted our process to save you time, money, and project efficiency.

We take safety seriously. Every project is evaluated to ensure that the proper steps are in place and potential liabilities are addressed before we're ever on site. Each day is started with a safety meeting led by our foremen in the field. Top of the line tools are provided to our installation teams on job sites to reduce risk of malfunction and misuse. All employees are drug-tested and receive training for OSHA, CPR, fall protection, forklift, and infectious disease control.

Jon Taylor

Jon founded Lycos in 2007 as a solid surface fabricator. With over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Jon quickly transformed Lycos into the go-to business for general contractors in the Midwest. His leadership skills, strong work ethic, and passion to always improve has aided him in forming and maintaining client relationships, building a team of hardworking employees, and overseeing all aspects of the company.
